How To Make Shampoo At Home: A Step-By-Step Guide

Are you tired of the chemicals in your shampoo? Want to know how to make a natural shampoo at home? In this article, we’ll show you how to make shampoo at home, step by step. We’ll also give you some tips on how to choose the right ingredients for your hair type. So if you’re ready to ditch the chemicals and switch to a natural shampoo, read on!

How To Choose The Right Shampoo For Your Hair Type

When it comes to choosing the right shampoo, there are a few things you need to take into account. First and foremost, you need to think about your hair type. If you have oily hair, for example, then you will need to use a shampoo that is specifically designed for that. The same goes for if you have dry hair. You also need to think about the kind of scalp you have. If you have a sensitive scalp, then you will need to use a shampoo that is designed for that. Once you have considered all of these things, you should be able to narrow down your choices and find the right shampoo for you. If you are still unsure, then you can always ask for advice from a professional.

4 Types of Shampoos That Can Easily Be Made At Home

• Basic shampoo

• Egg yolk shampoo

• Baking soda & Apple cider shampoo

• Coconut milk shampoo

Basic Shampoo

You Will Need

• 1/2 cup of water

• ½ cup Plant-Based Liquid Soap from Castile

• 1 teaspoon light vegetable oil or glycerin (omit if the hair is greasy)

• A few drops of your favourite essential oil (optional)

Procedure

1. Combine the ingredients, mix well and pour into a recycled shampoo bottle.

2. Use a palmful of shampoo or less to lather up once, then rinse with warm water.

This homemade shampoo is thinner than commercial shampoo and doesn’t lather as much — but it removes oil and dirt just as well as the over-the-counter stuff.

Egg Yolk Shampoo

You Will Need

• 2 whole eggs

• 3 tablespoons baking powder

• 2 teaspoons olive oil

• 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

• 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Procedure

1. Beat two eggs until fluffy.

2. Add baking soda and olive oil and mix well.

3. Add apple cider vinegar and lemon juice to the mixture.

4. Keep it in a bottle.

Thoroughly apply the mixture to your hair. Wash and rinse as usual.

Baking Soda & Apple Cider Shampoo

You Will Need

• ¼ cup liquid castile soap

• 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

• 10-15 drops of tea tree essential oil

• ¼ cup of water

Procedure

1. Mix all ingredients thoroughly and store in a spray bottle.

2. Spray this shampoo on your hair and massage your scalp.

3. Rinse with warm water.

Coconut Milk Shampoo

You Will Need

• ¼ cup coconut milk (homemade or canned)

• ¼ cup castile soap

• 20 drops essential oils (peppermint, lavender, rosemary)

• ½ teaspoon olive or almond oil

Procedure

1. Mix the ingredients.

2. Store the mixture in a bottle.

3. Use it to cleanse the scalp and hair.

4. Wash off with lukewarm water.

Tips To Remember While Making Shampoo At Home

Making shampoo at home is not as difficult as it may seem. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of patience, you can create a shampoo that is tailored to your hair type and needs.

Here are a few tips to remember while making shampoo at home:-

• Start with a base of either liquid Castile soap or glycerin. These will help to create a gentle and effective shampoo.

• Add in a few drops of essential oils for scent and to boost the properties of the shampoo. Choose oils that are appropriate for your hair type.

• Once the shampoo is mixed, it needs to be diluted with water. This can be done by slowly adding water to the mixture while stirring gently.

• The final step is to transfer the shampoo to a clean and sterilised bottle. Be sure to label the bottle clearly so that you know what is inside.

Making shampoo at home is a great way to save money and create a product that is tailored to your hair type. With a little bit of patience and attention to detail, you can create a shampoo that will leave your hair looking and feeling its best.
